Council of Indian Engineers (COIE)

Council of Indian Engineers (COIE), comprises India’s most distinguished engineers, engineer-scientists and technologists covering the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines. COIE functions as an apex body and promotes the practice of engineering & technology and the related sciences for their application to solving problems of national importance. The Council also provides a forum for futuristic planning for country’s development requiring engineering and technological inputs and brings together specialists from such fields as may be necessary for comprehensive solutions to the needs of the country.

COIE’s activities include programmes on issues of technology policy and overall development for the benefit of society, and the Council promotes research projects, pilot studies, engineering education, fellowships, scholarships, awards and other benefactions. Seminars/Workshops/ Round Tables are conducted on topics of current national importance. The actionable recommendations emanating from the deliberations are submitted to the concerned Department/ Government agencies to assist in formulation of national policies.

COIE as an outstanding provider of continuously evolving global market responsive trained professionals in the field of Engineering and Technology, Techno- Management Research, Development Engineers (RD&E) and Techno-management Professionals dedicated for excellence to deliver the innovative solutions that will improve productivity in all sectors of the economy

COIE is venturing into emerging technologies such as Additive Manufacturing, Climate Change (Carbon foot prints), Intelligent Buildings, Information Security, Green Energy, Smart Grid, Block-Chain, IoT, AI, Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles, and ISO Accreditations. Our Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) focuses on accreditation and proficiency development of TEQIP Institutions. To bridge the gap between industry and academics. COIE honours Indian and Foreign nationals who are elected by “peer” committees in recognition of their personal achievements in engineering which are of exceptional merit and distinctive eminence in new and developing fields of technology.

COIE also conducts Executive Development Programme (EDP) for officers of the level of Deputy Secretary and above of the Government of India. The areas covered are Financial Management, Management Principles, Good Governance, Knowledge Management, Behavioral Techniques and Cabinet Note Preparation in order to orient them towards effective service delivery in the Central Government. COIE have designed In-house training with excellent and experienced faculty (well known in their fields internationally & nationally).

Some other activities of COIE include undertaking research studies, providing consultancy services and development of trainers in training techniques. The Institute also organizes workshops/seminars for SAARC and Commonwealth countries and conducts International Training of Trainers Programme.
